The Ones Before You

2011 marks the Venture Lift follow-up entitled Tower of Spacious Karma with remixes by Sterling Roswell and artwork by James Marsh. The record also features a trance track collaboration with engineer Aaron Dawson (Off the International Radar, Dirty Inputs) and Ingird Sertso of The Creative Music Studio entitled It's Not Safe.  Both the debut and the follow-up were recorded in Woodstock with the engineering help of Ted Orr at Sertso Studio.  Venture Lift continues to perform and release music with a stable of different rotating musicians taking the main positions during live performances.  Studio recordings remain the focus of the group with the creative input of friends Ash Umhey and Ben Vita.

The Venture Lift (Project) started as a recording outlet for the New York state native Stanton Warren who grew up near the Buffalo/Niagara area.  He is an original member of the Canadian underground band Inner Sound Accelerator (ISA) who began performing in 1996 in St. Catharine's Ontario at clubs like The Cave, Gord's Place, The Mind Bomb and also the El Mocambo in Toronto.  ISA's 3 years as a group were intense experimental days of pushing musical ideas and insights into a new direction.  Early recordings made at 333 St. Paul Street were released on the S.C.E.N.E. compilations from 1997 and 1998 respectively.  Several unreleased songs and live recordings exist along with poster art that was archived by Warren.  The group dissolved during a live performance at the Niagara Arts Center (NAC), a downtown St. Catharine's art and music venue in February, 1999.

After the demise of ISA other members moved to Toronto forming the group Off the International Radar, leaving Warren to fend for himself musically.  In 2000 he moved to Woodstock New York to be near family and to study Tibetan Buddhism.  In 2001 he performed solo under the name Astropod and recorded one unreleased electronica record.  An offer from Fire Records in England to submit to their Chamber Music, 1907 compilation led to the formation of Venture Lift in the summer of 2003.  Warren went on to perform in a few other groups before releasing the debut CD LP entitled Futuretoreal on Mind Expansion records out of Detroit.  His time with Beautiful Bomb Shelter (Buffalo, 2004), Off the International Radar (Toronto, 2005) and Les Bicyclettes Blanches (Woodstock, 2006-2010) was to be a proving ground for live performance and the continuation of earlier ideas.

In 2009 Avondale Airforce was created with Peter Aaron (Chrome Cranks) as a side project with their debut now out on Thick Syrup (CD) and Beast Records (Vinyl) with artwork once again by James Marsh.  The duo also perform in the Hudson Valley and New York City.
